EMDR…

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychological therapy commonly used in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress.

Sometimes distressing experiences remain stored in a way that means they continue to feel very present, even when we logically know the experience is over. Certain situations, thoughts, feelings, body sensations or reminders can then trigger reactions connected to the original experience.

EMDR aims to help the brain process these experiences so they become part of the past rather than continuing to have the same emotional impact in the present.

EMDR involves much more than eye movements. Treatment includes assessment, preparation, developing resources and strategies, trauma processing and integration.

Your psychologist will talk with you about the process and work at a pace appropriate for you.

EMDR Intensives…

EMDR Intensives offer a more concentrated approach to therapy, with longer sessions scheduled over a shorter period of time rather than the traditional weekly therapy model.

This approach allows more time for preparation, processing and integration without needing to stop just because a standard session time has ended. EMDR Intensives may suit people who want to focus on a particular experience, issue or pattern, or who feel ready to dedicate focused time to their therapeutic work.

For a lot of people, it feels like hitting pause on life long enough to actually focus on themselves. Book a discovery call today to discuss if this is for you.

Resource Therapy…

Resource Therapy recognises that we all have different parts or aspects of ourselves. You might notice this in everyday life: one part of you wants to do something while another part is worried about it; one part feels confident while another feels unsure.

Sometimes parts of us continue carrying feelings, beliefs or responses connected to earlier experiences. Resource Therapy works directly with these different parts of the personality to understand what they need and help resolve experiences that may still be affecting the person today.

It can be used on its own or alongside other therapies, including EMDR.

Preparation & Integration for Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy…

New Tracks Psychology provides psychological preparation and integration support for people undertaking psychedelic-assisted therapy through appropriately qualified and authorised medical treatment providers.

Preparation provides an opportunity to explore expectations, intentions, concerns, emotional readiness and strategies for managing difficult experiences before treatment.

Integration occurs after the psychedelic-assisted therapy experience and focuses on making sense of what emerged and considering how insights or experiences can be incorporated meaningfully into everyday life.

New Tracks Psychology does not prescribe, supply or administer psychedelic substances.

This service provides psychological preparation and integration support only and does not replace appropriate medical assessment or treatment.
